On this side of glory, it won’t come to an end. The chance to increase one’s understanding of God is present every day. Your heart will become spiritually dry and hard if you stop learning more about God and letting His word soak into your being.
Spending Time Everyday Personal Devotion, Bible Study, and Prayer Is Very Important.
- The Bible says in 2 Timothy 4:2, “Preach the word; be ready in and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.”
- If you are going to grow spiritually, you need to spend time daily on personal devotion, bible study, and prayer. The Bible says in Matthew 6:33, “But seek first His kingdom and righteousness (His way of doing things) so that all these things will be given to you as well.”
- God wants us to learn about Him through His Word, the Holy Bible. We need God’s Word for our daily guidance just as much as we need air or food for sustenance. The Holy Spirit speaks through the scriptures daily if we listen attentively without prejudice or preconceived ideas about what He may say today or tomorrow!
Serving Christ and Others Build Spirituality.
Serving Christ and others builds spirituality. Serving others is an act of heart; it’s an act of obedience to God, and it’s a gift to Him. We grow spiritually when we serve others because we are showing them the love of Christ in our lives.
When Jesus was on earth, He spent most of His time serving people by healing them, teaching, and helping those who were hurting or in need. We should do the same thing as Christians today because this will show people how much God loves them!
We Cannot Grow Spiritually without Suffering – We Cannot Become Mature without Hardship.
We cannot grow spiritually without suffering. We can’t become mature without hardship and certainly can’t learn to suffer well unless we are willing to feel pain.
But we don’t like this part of the story. It makes us wonder why God would want us to suffer, especially if he loves us so much. So let’s take a look at what suffering is:
To suffer means that an event or circumstance is painful or difficult for you because your desire has been thwarted in some way. The word “suffering” implies that something was or will be done to me against my will—that words were spoken that hurt me personally; financial losses came as a result of someone else’s actions; my relationship with those I love dearly deteriorated; etc. All these situations involve some kind of harm being done against our wills and desires!

This is because of the biblical teaching that we become more like Christ by following him, a lifelong process as we respond to God’s love for us and choose to obey him. In other words, our spiritual growth comes from loving others, putting others first, obeying God’s Word, and being patient in difficult circumstances. At the same time, serving others is an important part of spiritual growth because it helps us see what real needs are in the world around us—and then respond to those needs by bringing light and hope into their lives through practical service (a hard-to-define term).
The Bible also tells us that suffering should not be ignored or avoided because this will often lead to more problems later on down the road: “We who are strong ought to bear with the failings of those without strength and not please ourselves” (Romans 15:1a). As Christians mature spiritually they must learn how to work through these difficulties with grace rather than becoming bitter about them. This can sometimes seem overwhelming, but there’s also a comfort in knowing that even Jesus Himself experienced these trials when He walked among us!
